Thank You to Our Donators

Special thanks to our newest Community Guardians: Anthony A., Agnosia, Sean, and Johnny (on Aug. 29).

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our newest supporters, abear and izzy Kokoro, and to all our other current monthly supporters: awendela, Sarah B., Ouistiti, rudra, Peru S., mc, rustybikes, acidjames, and Krish.

Meditation Mind operates 100% on donations, so this community would not be possible without you. See a full list of present and past supporters here, now with our long-time supporters and community guardians featured more prominently.

Community Milestones

In mid-June, we reached 14,000 members, and we’re quickly approaching 60,000 hours and 90,000 sessions of meditation tracked using Bloom!

On March 26th, Delfine achieved a 365-day streak. Meanwhile, Nineven (July 8th) and sa_ (July 29th) both achieved a 730-day streak, becoming our two newest šŸ‘½s!

New Tickets and Birthday Bots

Development of our previous tickets and birthday bots had stagnated, and both were plagued by stability issues, so we have switched to Tickets v2 and Birthday Bot.

Tickets v2 supports threaded tickets, which makes accessing previous tickets easy. With the switch, we have phased out DM and slash command tickets, which did not work well and were largely unused. To create a ticket, visit #contact-us!

Existing birthdays have been migrated to the new birthday bot, but if you’d like to add yours, just head over to #bot-commands and use /set-birthday!

Channel Changes

The #deep-dive channel is now opt-in, meaning that it will not be automatically added to the channel list for new members. To opt in or out, head over to #Channels & Roles and select the Deep Dive option from the Customize tab, or toggle the channel directly using the Browse Channels tab.

While this has resulted in slightly lower activity, it has also reduced the number of new members stumbling into the (sometimes daunting) channel without understanding its purpose, which was the intended outcome.

Bloom Bot Updates

We’ve made several updates to our community’s custom bot, Bloom.

  • Glossary Improvements

The glossary has received several new improvements.

The /glossary search command now uses a search engine-style full-text search that works much better than the previous OpenAI-powered search.

For the /glossary info and /whatis commands, term autocomplete has also been updated so that you can see available terms in real-time as you type.

And finally, glossary commands can now be used everywhere! Depending on the channel, the response may be ephemeral to avoid interfering with discussion.

  • Automated Streak Repair

Forgot to log yesterday? No problem! Now, whenever you're about to lose your streak role and have a single-day gap, Bloom will ask if you'd like to repair your streak or start fresh. And if you have multiple single-day gaps, Bloom will keep asking on subsequent adds until all gaps have been repaired.

Automatic streak repair only works for single-day gaps. If you have a larger gap that needs repair, feel free to ping Nathan or another mod for assistance.

  • Bloom Parser for Apple Health

The Bloom Parser utility used to process Apple Health logs for import by Bloom has been updated. In addition to performance improvements, time zone handling has been improved and records from apps using an alternative logging format are now properly processed. This includes newer versions of The Way.

Bloom Parser is available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. If you'd like to sync your tracking with Bloom, please try it out!

Odds and Ends

For those who would like to practice yoga together, we have added a newĀ @yoga with meĀ role. Just ping the role inĀ #yogaĀ and invite others to join you in one of the VCs!

We addedĀ two new helpline directories, including one specifically for youth, to our #mental-health channel. If you or someone you know is facing a mental health crisis, please make use of these resources.

And that’s it for our August update. If you have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to get in touch via #contact-usĀ or /suggest!
