Online Mindfulness Community

We are building a positive global online community to support each other on the path of meditation, mindful living, and personal and collective growth. We aim to give you practical tools to improve your life.

Personal Welcome

Thank you for reading about our work. I'm Christiaan, founder of Meditation Mind.

We've been working tirelessly with countless incredible volunteers across the world to create a cohesive, positive and supportive community online. From back when we started in 2016 up until now, we have had thousands of users join us on various platforms and benefit from the resources and activities we offer.

It is my sincere wish that everything we do will contribute to a better world and a healthier mind for all beings.

I'd love to welcome you to this incredible journey!

Our Mission

The purpose of Meditation Mind is to help people cultivate greater presence and a peaceful mind, while also creating a collective of people from across the globe who share a passion for meditation, mindfulness, and healthy living.

From Eastern and Western contemplative traditions to philosophy, psychology, both mainstream and alternative medicine, and even art, all fields provide valuable insights and approaches to mindfulness. We aim to share those insights in an accessible and pragmatic way.

Bridging the Gap

We aim to bridge the gap between religions, secular and non-secular traditions, cultures, and nations by sharing any and all teachings beneficial to the cultivation of greater presence and a peaceful mind in a radically accessible way. This means being open to all religions, all traditions, and all teachings, within reason.

We are a non-profit and non-religious organization, and we place emphasis on scientifically validated and practical solutions applicable to meditation, mindfulness, and a holistic lifestyle.

Serving

Our aim is to create a collective of people from across the globe who come together to share their experience and expertise—not hidden behind a paywall or some secretive initiation, but accessible to all.

Whether it be music, art, poetry, prose, guided meditations, or any other medium, we aim to share that which is of benefit to the pursuit of greater presence and a peaceful mind.

Additionally, we are always on the lookout for partners that share a similar vision. If that sounds like you, feel free to get in touch.

Unified Mindfulness

Wystan

Wystan is a Unified Mindfulness L2 Coach, currently training to become a fully certified teacher of the UM system. Prior to his involvement with UM, he trained in Buddhist monasteries both as a layperson and anagārika. However, for the past 2.5 years, his focus has been on integrating a secular life with continuous and committed practice. Apart from the secular Unified Mindfulness framework developed by Shinzen Young, Wystan is most familiar with Rob Burbea’s body of work, The Mind Illuminated, and Pragmatic Dharma, but is also comfortable discussing Buddhist esoterica.

Meet the Moderation Team

Nathan

Born: 1982
Location: Japan
Current Practice: Surrender
Meditation Experience: General curiosity and fascination with the mind naturally brought me to meditation. I am familiar with and have dabbled in a number of methods and systems, albeit with a heavy bias toward (traditional and secular) Buddhist practices. I have been practicing consistently since late 2018 and have attended one 10-day silent retreat in the Goenka tradition. Rob Burbea's teachings have been and continue to be greatly influential in my journey.
Favorite Thing About Our Community: The Meditation Mind community is open and welcoming, and exists for the community, first and foremost, with no hidden agenda.
Favorite Quote: "Do not try to become anything. Do not make yourself into anything. Do not be a meditator. Do not become enlightened. When you sit, let it be. When you walk, let it be. Grasp at nothing. Resist nothing." -Ajahn Chah, A Still Forest Pool

Jeffrey

Born: 1993
Location: The Netherlands
Current Practice: Metta / Vipassana
Meditation Experience: I’ve been practicing meditation and yoga since November 2021. It was recommended to me when I went through a very dark period in my life. And while it didn’t take away all the pain right away, it slowly guided me to a more peaceful mind. Since then I’ve been exploring different practices, mostly in Buddhist traditions.
Favorite Thing About Our Community: The intrinsic motivation of people to help each other out, regardless of their race, religion, opinions, or whatsoever.
Favorite Quote: "There is a river of feelings within us, and every drop of water in that river is a feeling. To observe our feelings, we sit on the bank of the river and identify each feeling as it flows by. It may be pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. One feeling lasts for a while, and then another comes. Meditation is to be aware of each feeling. Recognize it, smile to it, look deeply into it, and embrace it with all our heart. If we continue to look deeply, we discover the true nature of that feeling, and we are no longer afraid, even of a painful feeling. We know we are more than our feelings, and we are able to embrace each feeling and take good care of it."

Favorite Quote: "Let go of self-centred attachment and hold your mind with non-abiding awareness in all your daily activities." -Ven. Beishi Guohan

John

Born: 1983

Current Practice: Unification and insight
Meditation Experience: I began a consistent practice in 2021. It has been primarily influenced by Rob Burbea, Unified Mindfulness, and The Mind Illuminated.
Favorite Thing About Our Community: The culture of mindfulness.
Favorite Quote: "We live different ideas. Different concepts shape how we live, they inform how we live, but more fundamentally, they shape our way of looking. They’re part of, they’re included in, the way we look at everything, and therefore what we perceive, what appears to us." -Rob Burbea
